Careers and Salaries

Graduates in the field of Exercise Science may work in rehabilitation, helping individuals gain strength or recover from injury. They may work with athletes as trainers or become wellness coaches. Jobs in all sectors of the exercise science field are in high demand. For example, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts jobs for fitness trainers and instructors will grow 39% – much faster than average – between now and 2030.


Graduate Outcomes

  1. Competently describe and apply principles and applications of leadership, including persuasiveness, leading and directing teams, leading within organizations, leadership opportunities in shaping fitness policy, techniques for managing change and empowerment
  2. Analyze and apply fitness, wellness, & injury prevention research, focusing on current clinical outcomes research, psychology and physical activity research, and wellness research
  3. Demonstrate an above average ability to implement and apply integrated functional fitness, wellness, and exercise science techniques and methodologies
  4. Plan and develop various fitness, wellness, and exercise science program design projects including program elements, rationale, innovative design, and supporting research
  5. Demonstrate above average skills in the launching of new ventures, as well as business and management practices, including: management theory, financial management, personnel management, record keeping, risk management, marketing, billing and technology issues
  6. Demonstrate above average skills in the planning, administration and evaluation of wellness and fitness programs, nutrition projects and exercise physiology tracks based in sport, clinical, industrial and corporate environments
  7. Join and participate in professional organizations and demonstrate above average skills in professional development and responsibility
  8. Demonstrate advanced knowledge in the areas of biomechanics, applied anatomy, exercise physiology and nutrition for peak performance

Admissions Requirements

  • Regionally Accredited Bachelor's degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Official transcripts from a regionally accredited undergraduate institution

Conditional Admission Requirements

Conditional Admission may be granted with the following modifications of the Regular Admissions Requirements:

  • Regionally accredited Bachelor’s degree with a GPA of a 2.99-2.50 will be conditionally admitted with the stipulation of earning a 3.0 GPA in the first term
  • Regionally accredited bachelor's degree with a GPA of 2.49 and below will be reviewed for a decision once the following documentation has been received:
    * Resume
    * Two professional letters of recommendation
    * An interview may be required by the Program Coordinator to determine potential success in the program.

Provisional Admission:

  • Applicants who have provided unofficial documentation of test scores, prerequisite courses, transcripts or lack of letter(s) of recommendation may be admitted provisionally.
  • This policy also applies to undergraduate students who apply for graduate admission pending bachelor degree completion. Upon receipt of all official documents, a student will be changed from Provisional Admission to either Regular Admission or Conditional Admission. Provisional Admission students may take classes for one term but will not be eligible for Federal Financial Aid.
