Offered online, this program provides you with a strong business core, plus a curriculum that builds written and oral communications, critical thinking and analytical skills and a knowledge of legal and ethical issues. You’ll learn in small classes taught by faculty with professional experience. They will help you understand and practice business processes, enterprise systems, current and emerging technologies, business analytics, project management and much more. Event planners are in demand to organize and implement successful gatherings of all sizes, from intimate weddings to stadium concerts.
Through this concentration, you will learn to blend creativity with careful attention to detail. You’ll build on the skills you’ve acquired through core business courses, then go on to earn 24 credits that focus on your chosen field of interest. Experienced faculty will serve as your mentors and guides as you delve into all aspects of event management including design, risk management, finance, sustainability, marketing, logistics and evaluation.
You will have the opportunity to pursue professional certification through organizations such as Meeting Professionals International, the International Live Events Association or the International Association of Exhibition and Events.
As a graduate, you’ll be equipped to start your own business or find employment with top corporations, nonprofit organizations, convention centers and other event venues.
The Intelligent Enterprise concentration lies at the intersection of computer science and business. As a business professional, you will be required to improve your organization's effectiveness and efficiencies. Through this program, you’ll learn how technology drives these improvements and competitiveness.
This program is carefully designed to ensure you understand the language of business, including business processes, and how companies execute these using the SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and other current and emerging technologies.
The curriculum is highly experiential. That means you experience real-world scenarios and team dynamics using ERP simulation games. You’ll be introduced to leading industry certifications, engage in interesting projects and a build a professional community.
Although you will be using SAP technologies in these courses, you will acquire transferable skills that translate other enterprise technologies such as SuccessFactors, Workday and Oracle. You’ll graduate ready on day-one to make any company more competitive.
The steady growth of leisure time among Americans increases demands on our natural resource base and the social framework of our nation. Asa result, there’s a growing need for trained parks and recreation management professionals.
This exciting concentration prepares you for a career that promotes leisure lifestyles that enrich the lives of people and their communities.
In addition to core business courses, you’ll learn about the effective preservation, management and use of our natural resources. As a student, you will acquire practical experience in community recreation management, park and resource protections, recreation programming, interpretation, outdoor leadership, outdoor recreation research and recreation facility and area planning.
This program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Related Professions (COAPRT). Our graduates have gone on to work at recreation centers, national parks, cruise ships, summer camps and in other fields that support exercise and healthy living.
Careers, salaries and working environments will vary, depending on the organization that employees you. If you graduate with the BSBA in Integrated Business, for example, you most likely will work in an office building of some sort. Alumni in the Intelligent Enterprise concentration also work in many businesses as accountants, marketers, logisticians, business analysts, or they run and innovate their own businesses. Parks and Recreation Management grads may work outdoors, in community recreation centers or facilities, while Event Planning alumni could work for a large or small corporation, a nonprofit agency or in their own business.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, job opportunities for graduates in Parks and Recreation Management concentration will increase 10% between now and 2031,while jobs for Event Planners will jump 18% during the same time frame.
