Students examining a mock crime scene

Online Associate in Criminal Justice

At PennWest Global Online, students in the fully online Associate of Science in Criminal Justice program learn from experienced faculty who bring both academic expertise and real-world criminal justice knowledge to the virtual classroom. Over the course of this two-year program, students gain a foundational understanding of the modern criminal justice system, including law enforcement, courts, and corrections. Courses explore the roles and responsibilities of each component, along with how criminal law—both substantive and procedural—shapes their operations. Throughout the program, students also build essential critical thinking and communication skills needed for success in the field.

Designed for online learners worldwide, this program prepares graduates to pursue entry-level roles in criminal justice after completing any required local or state training, such as a law enforcement academy. Career opportunities may include roles in municipal, county, or state law enforcement, correctional facilities, or juvenile justice support. Graduates may also explore careers in private security, safety, or loss prevention. Students are encouraged to consult with their academic advisor regarding potential credit for prior training or academy completion.
